In collaboration with the Institute of Humanities at Seoul National University, the Ricci Institute for Chinese-Western Cultural History at Boston College welcomes applications to an international workshop in Seoul to take place between November 28 and December 4, 2022. Applications are due by August 15, 2022.
The workshop is part of a four-year project supported by the Henry Luce Foundation entitled, “Historical Legacies of Christianity in East Asia: Bridging a New Generation of Scholars and Scholarship.” Those post-doctoral scholars and junior faculty members who have research interests on Christianity in East Asia and who are working on book manuscripts are encouraged to apply to participate in the workshop. The working language of the four-day event is English.
The workshop will consist of lectures and seminars led by senior scholars from Seoul National University and other universities, allowing opportunities for participants to discuss research methodologies, historiographies, and engagement with primary sources in a variety of languages. Participants will also visit local museums and archives. They will also meet with a senior acquisitions editor from Brill Academic Publishers to discuss the editorial and publication of a scholarly book. Lastly, each participant will be guided by a mentor specializing in the study of Christianity in East Asia.
